Virat Kohli will most likely be rested for the third and final Test against Sri Lanka later in the year. The India captain might also sit out of the limited-overs series against the visitors.Kohli had earlier said key batsmen would be rested ahead of India’s daunting tour of South Africa, where they have not won a series in six attempts.It is understood, Kohli will be among the ones to be rested after the first two Tests against Sri Lanka. He is currently leading India in the ODI series against New Zealand.Since the start of 2017, Kohli has been arguably the busiest player in the world. He has so far featured in seven out of India’s eight Tests this year. Besides, he has played 24 ODIs and a handful of T20 internationals.Kohli had only missed the Dharamsala Test against Australia due to a shoulder injury and had to sit out of the first few IPL matches later. But he has been in the thick of things, leading India across formats since the Champions Trophy.India, ranked number one in Tests, are in good shape to challenge South Africa in their own conditions and the BCCI would be eager to ensure their trump card is well rested and fresh.
