ATLANTA, GA – JANUARY 6: Head Coach Nick Saban of the Alabama Crimson Tide speaks to the media during the College Football Playoff National Championship Media Day at Philips Arena on January 6, 2018 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Scott Cunningham/Getty Images)Alabama won three of the last five titles of the BCS era. They have done quite well in the first four years of the College Football Playoff. The Tide have been to all four playoffs and reached the title game three times. They’ve won it twice. So, judging by those facts, Nick Saban should love the new system, right? Well, not totally.Saban appeared on The Paul Finebaum Show today at the SEC meetings, and a quote of his is going viral. It has to do with the CFP.It seems Saban’s main beef with the format is that he feels the committee is harsher on teams that lose late in the season than they are on ones that lose early on.“My issue with the playoff is that if you lose late in the season it has a much greater impact than if you lose early in the season” – Nick Saban pic.twitter.com/VArMOp4CT8— Paul Finebaum (@finebaum) May 29, 2018If you can’t figure out why this quote has raised a few eyebrows and caused a few laughs, Alabama suffered its only loss in the last week of the 2017 regular season. That didn’t stop the committee from putting the Tide in the four-team field.Of course, the team that beat ‘Bama (Auburn) was eliminated from the playoff with a loss one week later in the SEC Championship Game. But that was the Tigers’ second loss of the year. If it had only been their first, they’d have probably still gotten in.Many feel Saban is trolling with this quote. What do you think?
